Meta’s new AGI plans 🤖 

Mark Zuckerberg has announced plans to develop an open-source Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). He shared his vision for AGI in an Instagram Reel 📹️ 

Zuckerberg has been criticized for taking an irresponsible approach to AGI after committing to building a powerful AI system on par with human levels of intelligence 🧠

However, Zuckerberg has not revealed any timeline for the creation of the AGI.

Rabbit partners with Perplexity 🤝

The Rabbit R1, a standout gadget from CES 2024, will use Perplexity AI’s technology to answer user queries. This partnership between Rabbit and Perplexity AI aims to offer advanced language processing capabilities 🤖 

The first 100,000 Rabbit R1 purchases will come with 1 year of Perplexity Pro subscription for free. This subscription normally costs $20 per month 💵 

Microsoft makes its AI-powered reading tutor free ⌨️ 

Microsoft has made its AI-powered tool, Reading Coach, which provides personalized reading practice to learners, available for free 🤝 

Reading Coach will now be available as a separate app to assist students in improving their literacy skills 📈 

Students can use generative AI to create a story by picking a protagonist, genre, setting, and reading level to generate a story. Once the story is generated, the user can start reading, and the microphone will pick up their audio for feedback on pronunciation and words to practice ✍️ 

OpenAI collaborates with ASU 🏫 

OpenAI has signed up its first higher education customer, Arizona State University (ASU). ASU announced that it’s collaborating with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT, OpenAI’s AI-powered chatbot, to the university’s researchers, staff, and faculty 🧑‍🎓 

This collaboration introduces the advanced capabilities of ChatGPT Enterprise to the university, empowering faculty and staff to explore the potential of generative AI to enhance teaching, learning, and discovery 🔬
