Apple’s first GPT-4 competitor 🤖 

Apple has recently revealed a new language model called ReALM (Reference Resolution As Language Modelling) 🤖 This compact AI model is designed to run on mobile devices, including phones, and focuses specifically on enhancing existing AI models, making them faster, smarter, and more efficient 💪 

ReALM can analyse what’s on your screen and your current activities to figure out what you need. This means that Siri could better understand the context of your questions, such as identifying on-screen content or recognizing playing music 🎵 

Apple also claims that ReALM outperforms GPT-4 on certain tasks 📈 

Although it’s not confirmed whether ReALM will be integrated into Siri in time for the launch of iOS 18 at WWDC 2024 🌐 

OpenAI’s new (and dangerous) voice cloning tool 🗣️ 

OpenAI has introduced a new tool called Voice Engine, which has the capability to clone any voice using a mere 15-second audio sample ✅ 

It generates natural-sounding speech with emotive and realistic voices. The technology builds upon OpenAI’s existing text-to-speech API and has been in development since 2022 📆 

Samples available on OpenAI’s official blog demonstrate how eerily close the cloned voices are to the originals 😳 

There are also serious privacy concerns as bad actors could misuse this technology for deepfake purposes.To tackle this, the tool will have safeguards, including a no-go voice list to prevent AI-generated voices resembling prominent figures 🌍️ 

Voice Engine’s official rollout date remains undisclosed. Potential pricing data suggests it may cost $15 per one million characters (equivalent to around 162,500 words) 💵 

Apple’s new AI plans after recent fail 📉 

Apple, after its recent failure in developing a self-driving car, is now turning its attention to home robotics 🤖 

While the car venture has failed, Apple is aiming to create a new market by developing robotic devices for everyday use. The focus is on smart home assistants that can perform tasks like cleaning, organizing, and assisting users 🧹 

Apple is one of the biggest companies when it comes to hardware and software, and having this expertise will make it easy for them to revolutionize the home robotics space 📈 

However, specific details about the products or timeline remain undisclosed ❌ 

Big artists come together to fight AI music generation 🎵 

A group of 200 musicians, including Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, Katy Perry, and many others, have signed an open letter urging tech companies and developers to use AI music generation tools responsibly 🤝 

They're worried about how AI can affect their privacy, identities, music, and careers when used carelessly. AI models often learn from huge amounts of existing music without permission, which hurts artists' rights 🫱 

Some companies are working on AI tools that use licensed or royalty-free music, but this still raises concerns for artists who make their own music 🎵

Add any depth or outline to your image using AI 🖼️ 

Adobe Firefly just released a new feature called “Structure Reference”.

Using this, you can apply various structure references to your images for free ✅ 

Here’s a step-by-step 👇️ 

1. Simply head to Adobe Firefly and create a free account.

2. Now prompt Firefly for any image whose structure you want to alter.
   

   

   “Cute cats flying through the forest with confetti, soft light pink background“

   
   
   

3. Now, at the left-hand side - add an image of your choice whose structure (depth and outline) you want to copy to the current image.
    

   It will serve as a reference to match its outline and depth ✅ 
   

   

   I chose a simple hand drawing as the reference

   
   
   You can also edit the prompt to closely match your desired picture and experiment with Firefly's different settings, such as aspect ratio, style, effects, or even angle.

4. Click “Generate,” and it will provide you with multiple images to choose from 🎉
   
   

   

   
   
   As you can see, Firefly modified my original image according to the reference image’s outline, highlights and depth.
