Google debuts Imagen 2 🤖 

Google has made the 2nd generation of Imagen, an AI model that can create and edit images given a text prompt, more widely available – at least to Google Cloud customers using Vertex AI who’ve been approved for access 🦾 

Vertex AI is Google’s collection of its cloud machine-learning products and services. Many companies have already hopped on the bandwagon and started using the original Imagen, including Shutterstock and Snap 📈 

Now, Google is promising higher quality images, text rendering in additional languages, logo generation, and more through Imagen 🖼️

OpenAI and Axel Springer, a global media and technology company, have announced a partnership, where the goal of is to strengthen independent journalism in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) 🗞️ 

Under the agreement, OpenAI will use articles and other content from Axel Springer publications to develop its AI models 🤖 

This partnership comes after months of clashes between news publishers and tech companies over how their content can be used to train AI systems. It could lead to the creation of more sophisticated AI models that can understand and generate news content, thereby supporting journalists in their work 🤝 

Gemini Pro now open for developers 👨‍💻 

Google DeepMind has made the new Gemini Pro model available for its developers. This model along with a user-friendly tool called Google AI Studio, provides free access for developers to explore its capabilities and integrate it into their applications 🤖 

It will offer generous rate limits for free, with paid plans coming — but the Gemini Pro API costs more than GPT 3.5 💰️ 

Notably, the Gemini Pro model is also accessible through Google’s Bard chat interface 🧩 

Spotify confirms “AI Playlists” 🤖🎵 

Spotify has confirmed that it is testing a new feature that would allow streaming app users to create playlists using AI technology and prompts.

According to a report by TechCrunch, the feature takes a short description and turns it into playlists. Users can simply type in a mood, event, or theme, and the AI will generate a playlist to match. This could make discovering new music or setting the tone for an event much easier 🎵 

However, as this feature is still in testing, it’s unclear when it will be widely available to all Spotify users. Despite this, the development of the AI playlists feature is a clear indication of how Spotify is thinking about the role AI could play in music personalization ✨ 

This development follows Spotify’s previous innovations in personalization, such as the Discover Weekly playlist and the annual Wrapped campaign. The AI playlists feature seems to be a continuation of this trend, taking personalization to a whole new level 📈 

Instagram brings new AI feature to Stories 🤖🎵 

Instagram, owned by Meta, introduced its new generative AI-powered background editing tool to U.S. based users Wednesday 🌎️ 

The tool will let users change the background to their images through prompts for Stories ⌨️ 

When users tap on the background editor icon on an image they will get ready prompts like “On a red carpet,” “Being chased by dinosaurs” and “Surrounded by puppies.” Users can also write their own prompts to change the background as well 🖼️ 

Meta has been constantly expanding its AI capabilities. In the past month, Meta made 28 AI-powered characters accessible across all its popular apps, including WhatsApp, Messenger, and Instagram 🌐
