BREAKING NEWS

Google Chrome gets Gemini’s AI features 📈

Google has introduced new Gemini-powered features for Chrome’s desktop version. Here are the details 👇️

  1. Google Lens for Desktop: After years of being available on mobile, Google Lens is finally coming to desktop. Users can select a part of a page and ask questions to get search results, and use it for other tasks like shopping, math equations etc.

  2. Tab Compare: Chrome will offer an AI-powered summary of similar items across different tabs. For instance, if you’re searching for a new Bluetooth speaker, Tab Compare will show product specs, features, price, and ratings in one place, even when details are spread across different pages 📃

  3. Natural Language Integration for Search History: Users can now search their browsing history using natural language queries. For example, you can ask, “What was that ice cream shop I looked at last week?”.

Mark Zuckerburg’s wild claim for Llama 4 🤖

During Meta’s second-quarter earnings call, Mark Zuckerberg revealed that training Llama 4 will require nearly 10 times the computing power used for its predecessor, Llama 3 🦙

The company recently released Llama 3.1 405B, its largest open-source model yet, with 405 billion parameters.

If you haven’t checked it yet, here’s everything it can do:

Microsoft acknowledges OpenAI as a competitor 🤔

Microsoft has recently acknowledged OpenAI as a competitor in both AI and search domains 👀

Despite their long-standing strategic partnership, Microsoft’s annual 10K filing now includes OpenAI alongside other competitors in AI, such as Anthropic, Amazon, and Meta 📃

This comes after OpenAI announced its prototype search engine, SearchGPT. It’s fascinating to observe how relationships evolve in the tech industry, where partners and competitors often coexist 🤔

Google’s new ‘open’ AI models 👀

Google has recently introduced a trio of “open” generative AI models that emphasize safety, transparency, and accessibility. Let me break it down for you 👇️

  1. Gemma 2 2B: This lightweight model generates and analyzes text. It’s designed to run on various hardware, including laptops and edge devices.

  2. ShieldGemma: A collection of “safety classifiers,” it detects toxicity (such as hate speech, harassment, and explicit content).

  3. Gemma Scope: Developers can use Gemma Scope to zoom in on specific points within a Gemma 2 model, making its inner workings more interpretable.

These models are part of Google’s effort to promote “open” AI models for the developers, similar to what Meta is doing with Llama

USE AI WITHIN EXCEL

Supercharge your productivity with this AI-Google Sheets integration

Google has just integrated Gemini AI into Google Sheets (and other services like YouTube, Gmail and Docs) 📈

It helps you process data, understand tables and generate formulas much more easily.

Here’s how to use it 👇️

  1. Open Google Sheets and click on the button to the left of your profile picture ◀️

The ‘Ask Gemini’ tab opens and automatically summarizes your spreadsheet.

This is the ‘Collaborate with Gemini’ feature

Click on the arrow to bring up the suggestions

  2. You can choose one of the suggested formulas, or type out a brief of the custom formula you would like to implement in the sheet

    Here’s an example 👇️

  3. Now, just copy and paste the formula where you want it.

Select an empty cell and click on "Insert" to have Gemini insert the formula into your table

And this is not all, you can try playing around with the prompt-bar and even use Gemini for summarising data, explaining columns and even creating tables altogether 💪
