Microsoft’s biggest investment in the UK 🇬🇧 

Microsoft has announced a significant investment of $3.2 billion in the United Kingdom. This is Microsoft’s single largest investment in the country to date. The investment will promote future growth of AI 🤖 

The funding was first announced at a summit hosted by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. As part of the deal, Microsoft will bring more than 20,000 of the most advanced Graphics Processing Units to Britain, which is key to machine learning and developing AI.

The investment also includes a training plan to help ensure Britons have the skills they need to build and work with AI 🧑‍🦰 

Apart from this, Microsoft's Accelerating Foundation Models Research program will also extend to the country, which will provide GPU access to the country's leading research institutions for AI and scientific discovery 🥼 

Despite previous concerns raised by Microsoft’s president Brad Smith about the UK’s antitrust regulator, the company is committed to ensuring that the UK has world-leading AI infrastructure 🤝 

Mastercard’s new shopping assistant 🛍️ 

Mastercard has recently unveiled a new tool called Shopping Muse. This advanced generative AI tool is designed to revolutionize how consumers search for and discover products in a retailer’s digital catalogue 🛒 

Shopping Muse re-creates the in-store, human experience by translating consumers’ colloquial language into tailored product recommendations with suggestions for coordinating products and accessories 👗 

In addition to helping shoppers search by phrase, Shopping Muse can reduce frustration by helping consumers find the perfect item even when they don’t know how to properly describe it in words. Using integrated advanced image recognition tools, retailers can recommend relevant products based on visual similarities to others, even if they lack the right technical tags 😎 

Microsoft Copilot is now “generally available” 🌐 

Microsoft has announced that Copilot (formerly Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise) is now generally available and no longer in preview ❌ 

That means Copilot is now available in 105 languages and 169 countries “on all modern browsers for mobile and web,” according to Caitlin Roulston, the director of communications at Microsoft 🎯 

Microsoft will continue to launch new features in preview while they iterate, listen to feedback, and improve the experience for users. They also added that users can now expect “better answers, newer efficiency, and instant creativity” ✨ 

Google postpones it’s newest model 🤖 

Google has delayed the launch of its next-generation AI model, Gemini, to January 2024. The AI model was originally supposed to be revealed in November 2023 but it’s still struggling with certain non-English queries 🤔 

Gemini, which is being developed to compete with OpenAI’s GPT-4, can create content based on text prompts, summarise, write codes, and draft emails, among other capabilities 🤖 

The delay comes at a critical time for Google as it contends with Microsoft’s rapidly growing cloud sales 📈 

Meta’s newest speech aided AI 🗣️ 

Meta has recently introduced a new AI model called SeamlessM4T. This model is capable of translating and transcribing speech in dozens of languages, enabling real-time communication across language barriers 🌐 

It also supports translations between text and speech in nearly 100 languages, as well as full speech-to-speech translation for 35 languages 🔈️ 

This is part of the Massively Multilingual Speech (MMS) project, which focuses on multilingualism and is aimed at making information accessible to many more people, including those who rely entirely on voice to access information The company is publicly sharing its models and code so that others in the research community can build upon their work 🧑‍💻

Here's how to use it 👇️ 

1. Head to RunwayML and create a new account (I linked mine using Google)

   Once you're logged in, just hit "Start with Text" 🤖

   

   This will let you convert your words into videos 📷️ 

2. Next, it'll prompt you to enter the text you wish to see transformed into a realistic video ✨ 

   This is the part where you should let your imagination go wild 😏 

   

   Feel free to type the craziest stuff you can think of 😆 

3. And last but not the least, just click on the “Generate” button 🔘 

   And give it a moment to process your prompt… 🛠️

Animating something like this would have taken a lottt of time, but Runway pretty much nailed it for me in seconds ✅

To use it, just click the “Motion Brush” button below the generated video ⤵️

Remember to set the dimensional settings like horizontal, vertical, and orthogonal for greater precision of animation 🎭️ 

Now just hit “Save” and see how Runway breathes life into your image 🧬
