Will Q* finally achieve AGI? 🚀

OpenAI researchers have reportedly made a significant breakthrough with a new AI algorithm, dubbed Q* (pronounced Q-Star) 🤔

The details of this breakthrough are not fully disclosed, but it’s suggested that Q* could “surpass humans in most economically valuable tasks” 👨‍💼 

Q*’s current mathematical ability is said to be that of a grade-school student, but it’s expected that this ability will rapidly improve 📈 

The development of this tool might have been a key factor leading up to the recent tensions within the OpenAI team 🔑 

If Q* does increase the likelihood of achieving AGI, and Altman neglected to inform the board of this, it would explain the board's remark about "not being consistently candid in communications", and the urgency in his firing 🤔 

Reportedly, the board of directors were concerned about the potential implications of this breakthrough ⚡️ 

The context becomes much clearer when you consider that just a day before Sam was fired, he made this statement in a speech:

Is Sam Altman back at OpenAI ⁉️ 

After last week’s chaos, OpenAI - on Wednesday tweeted that they have reached an agreement for Sam Altman to return to OpenAI as CEO.

This came after the board that fired him has had second thoughts and decided to revert their decision ◀️ 

Altman is open to returning but wants to see governance changes, including the removal of existing board members. He’s also seeking a statement absolving him of wrongdoing 🤔 

Anthropic giving a facelift to Claude ⚡️ 

Claude 2.1, the new model released by Anthropic, now has an “industry-leading” 200K token context window and 2x fewer hallucinations giving it improved performance and longer responses 📈 

It has made significant improvements in coding, math, and reasoning. For instance, Claude 2.1 scored 76.5% on the multiple choice section of the Bar exam, up from 73.0% with Claude 1.3 ✍️ 

This recent release of Anthropic’s Claude 2.1 shows that the AI industry will continue to innovate and compete, regardless of the challenges being faced by other companies (wink wink OpenAI 😉)

Bard x YouTube? 📷️ 

Google’s AI chatbot Bard has recently been updated to answer questions about YouTube videos 🗣️ 

This new feature is part of Bard’s YouTube Extension, which allows the chatbot to understand some video content on the platform and answer specific queries related to them ⌨️ 

The update also comes as Google opened up access to Bard to teens in most countries around the world. Teens can ask Bard about important topics, like which universities to apply to, or about more fun topics, like how to learn a new sport 🏅 

Grok rolling out to X next week 🗓️ 

Elon Musk confirmed that the chatbot 'Grok' from xAI will be open to all X Premium+ subscribers as of "next week" ⏭️ 

Although Musk's predictions about product delivery have not consistently been accurate, recent code developments within X's own app indicate that the integration of Grok is already in progress 📊
