TikTok banned from OpenAI? ❌ 

ByteDance (the parent company of TikTok) has been suspended by OpenAI after it allegedly used GPT-generated data to train its own AI model in China, which is a violation of the developer license of both Microsoft and OpenAI ❌ 

Internal ByteDance documents confirmed that the “OpenAI API has been relied on to develop its foundational LLM” (codenamed Project Seed) during nearly every phase of development 🧑‍💻 

This practice is generally considered a faux pas in the AI world. It’s also in direct violation of OpenAI’s terms of service, which state that its model output can’t be used “to develop any artificial intelligence models that compete with our products and services”. Microsoft, which ByteDance is buying its OpenAI access through, has the same policy 📃 

Alibaba’s new image-to-video model 🖼️➡️📺️ 

Alibaba Group’s Tongyi Lab has recently released 12VGen-XL, a new image-to-video synthesis model. This model is part of VGen, an open-source video synthesis codebase developed by the Tongyi Lab 👨‍💻 

The 12VGen-XL model is capable of high-quality image-to-video synthesis via cascaded diffusion models. It can produce high-quality videos from input text, images, desired motion, desired subjects, and even feedback signals provided 🖼️ 

In addition to 12VGen-XL, the VGen codebase also includes other state-of-the-art video generative models and offers a variety of commonly used video generation tools such as visualization, sampling, training, inference, joint training using images and videos, acceleration, and more… 📈 

Resemble’s new speech enhancement AI 🔈️
