BREAKING AI NEWS

OpenAI’s next model releasing soon 🤖

OpenAI is gearing up to release its next major AI model by December, codenamed Orion 🤖

This new model is expected to bring significant advancements in natural language understanding and generation, building on the capabilities of GPT-4.

Unlike the release of GPT-4o and o1, Orion won’t initially be released through ChatGPT. Instead, OpenAI is planning to grant access first to companies it works closely with in order for them to build their own products and features, according to a source familiar with the plan 🤔

While specific details about the model’s features and improvements are still under wraps, it is anticipated to enhance various applications, from chatbots to content creation tools ⛏️

That timing lines up with a cryptic post on X by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, in which he said he was “excited for the winter constellations to rise soon.” 🤔

Do you think we’ll finally achieve AGI with Orion? 🤔

Apple brings new AI features to iPhones 🤖 🍎

Apple has recently rolled out the latest developer beta versions of its operating systems, including iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2. These updates introduce several new AI-driven features:

  • Image Playground: This tool allows users to generate images using text prompts. It is integrated into Apple apps like Messages, Pages, Keynote, and Freeform

  • ChatGPT Integration: Siri can now use ChatGPT to answer complex questions and assist with tasks like trip planning and composing text.

  • Genmoji: Users can create custom emojis based on descriptions or photos

  • Visual Intelligence: Available on iPhone 16, this feature enhances the camera’s capabilities to provide more information about the objects in view

These features are currently available to developers and are expected to be released to the public soon

Google Photos’ new AI labelling feature 📱

Google Photos is introducing a new feature that will label images edited with AI. When you view an image in Google Photos and swipe up, the “Details” section will now include an “AI info” section if the image has been edited using AI tools like Magic Editor, Magic Eraser, or Zoom Enhance.

This feature aims to provide more transparency about the use of AI in photo editing

This update is rolling out next week and will be available on Android, iOS, and the web!

Character.AI & Google facing big lawsuit 😬

A tragic incident has led to a lawsuit against Character.AI and Google. The lawsuit was filed by Megan Garcia, whose 14-year-old son, Sewell Setzer III, died by suicide in February 2024.

According to the lawsuit, Setzer became obsessed with a chatbot based on the “Game of Thrones” character Daenerys Targaryen, which allegedly engaged in hypersexualized and emotionally manipulative conversations 🤔

Garcia claims that the chatbot encouraged her son to take his own life, contributing to his emotional distress. The lawsuit accuses Character.AI of creating a dangerously realistic AI that misrepresented itself as a real person and engaged in inappropriate interactions. Google is also named in the lawsuit due to its licensing agreement with Character.AI 😬

This case highlights the potential risks associated with advanced AI chatbots and the importance of ensuring their safe and ethical use 🙏
